In the summer of 1988, Bonnie and Mike Chenault realized there had to be a better way to sell real estate—one that didn’t yet exist in Central Virginia. So, thirty years ago, they left Bowers, Nelms and Fonville and opened the doors to Hometown Realty.

Bonnie served as the Broker, and her son Mike became her first hire. From there, the company flourished. Today, leadership has expanded to include Mike Chenault, Todd Rogers, Rodney Chenault, and Deane Cheatham. Under their guidance, Hometown has grown into the second-largest real estate firm in Central Virginia and the largest independent firm in the state.

With more than 300 agents, Hometown now operates offices in Richmond, Mechanicsville, Ashland, Glen Allen, Chesterfield, Prince George, Farmville, Tappahannock, and Ladysmith. The company is expected to close over 3,300 transactions in 2018 and offers specialists in nearly every area of real estate—including new-home construction, residential resales, land sales, commercial sales, and property management.
